This notice explains what personal information glowofthegame.com collects, why, and what you can do about it. It is written to be short and plain.
Who I am
This website is run by Gordon Stevenson, author of The Glow of the Game. I am responsible for the personal information collected here. You can reach me at any time through the contact page.
What I collect and why
- “Tell me when it’s out” sign-ups: your first name (optional), your email address and which book you are interested in. I use these only to email you when the books are available to order. The legal basis is your consent.
- Contact form messages: your name, email address and message, so that I can reply. The legal basis is my legitimate interest in answering people who get in touch.
- Spam protection: when a form is sent, a scrambled version of your internet (IP) address is held for 10 minutes to stop repeated automated submissions. It is then deleted automatically.
Where it is kept
Sign-ups and messages are stored in this website’s own database, which is hosted by IONOS, and a copy of each is emailed to my inbox. I do not use a separate mailing-list company, and I never sell, rent or share your details with anyone else.
How long I keep it
Sign-up details are kept until you unsubscribe. Contact messages are kept only as long as needed to deal with your enquiry.
Unsubscribing and your rights
You can unsubscribe at any time by replying to any email from me or by sending a message through the contact page, and I will remove your details. You also have the right to ask for a copy of the information I hold about you, to have it corrected or deleted, and to object to how it is used.
If you are unhappy with how your information has been handled, please contact me first. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk.
Cookies
This site does not use analytics, advertising or tracking cookies. WordPress sets cookies only for the site’s administrator when logged in. Like all web hosts, IONOS keeps short-term server logs, which include IP addresses, for security and to keep the site running.
Buying the books
When the books go on sale, orders will be handled by Shopify’s secure checkout. Shopify will then process your name, address and payment details under its own privacy policy, and this notice will be updated before sales open.
